 Playing for Education

The emphasis in higher education is shifting from a traditional content-delivery model to one that values active learning.

This masterclass draws on Giskin's experience of designing and delivering teaching, in an interdisciplinary environment at Imperial College London, to show techniques for promoting student engagement, learning and subjective well-being. In particular, she will give examples of how she has used concepts from ‘playful learning’ to cultivate creativity, develop reflective practice, and enhance resilience.

 Objectives

  • To understand the rationale for culture change in face-to-face teaching
  • To gain confidence in using novel techniques to enhance teaching and learning
  • To explore the affordances and constraints of using playful learning in higher education
