Target Audience: Staff wishing to find out more using tools which enable live online teaching of students.



This session will allow staff to explore tools and research-informed methods and principles of live online collaborative platforms such as Adobe Connect and Skype. This will include live student discussion, tutor presentations, use of break-out rooms for small-group discussion and also large-group lecturing.

Outcomes/Objectives:

  • Make informed decisions on the choice of online collaborative platform and tools
  • Choose appropriate tasks for use of these tools
  • Consider the relative costs and benefits of using such tools.

Prerequisites

Programme (STEP). This is a unique development programme aimed at traditional academic and teaching staff, and relevant to all staff engaged in teaching.

CANCELLATION We want our events to run at full capacity to ensure value for money and to get the most from group interactions and discussions. Cancelling attendance at a course should only be done as a last resort (some of our events are delivered by consultants and we would incur a high fee if we need to cancel events based on low numbers). Demand is high for our events with many having a waiting list and when a booking is made, others are turned away on the strength of that booking. If you have to cancel an event we would appreciate as much notice as possible (at least 48 hours).
