Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: Staff and Post-Graduates
This course is aimed at academic and technical staff responsible for designing, modifying, purchasing and managing work equipment/machinery. It seeks to provide sufficient knowledge and skills to enable attendees to:
- Appreciate the requirements of the Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) and the Supply of Machinery Regulations
- Appreciate and use relevant British and International Standards
- Carry out practical risk assessments on work equipment/machinery
- Apply the requirements of PUWER to various categories of existing work equipment/machinery
- Apply the requirements of PUWER to new, in-house built or modified work equipment/machinery

Prerequisites
None.Related Materials
Materials will be provided on the day.There will be the opportunity to demonstrate understanding through a 20 minute written exercise. Attendees who achieve a satisfactory level of performance will receive a certificate.

Charges for no-shows to courses
When registering for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* charge to your department if you cancel within 5** working days or you do not attend. There will be a £25 charge for cancellations between 6 and 10 working days. There will be no charge for cancellations made 10 or more working days before the event. You should cancel your booking via the DAT system or by emailing safety.training@strath.ac.uk.
Your department is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary prerequisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you must attend ALL parts of the course. If you fail to attend any part, you will be charged as outlined above.
*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance at a one day’s duration or less course. For some courses there may be a higher cancellation charge.
