We are called to be architects of the future, not its victims’ R. Buckminster Fuller

Like the rest of the world, the UK is seeing an emergence of new industries, business models and behaviours as a result of disruptive innovations. This means that the way people are working is changing - technology, data analytics, social media and ways of communicating are evolving. Different and diverse generations mean that traditional career models could become extinct in the foreseeable future.

Such possible developments will have a fundamental impact on how UK business will attract, retain and motivate a talented workforce. Equally they may well have a profound impact on how we best educate students to equip them to thrive in these new and fast changing workplaces.

Whilst no one can predict the future, there are ways of having powerful conversations about it in the present.  During this workshop you will be asked to use a series of future forecasting tools and techniques to think about the future of work in a systematic but innovative way. In turn, these thoughts may well provoke and suggest possible changes that might be taken in the present to better serve your students and the University. Allowing you to turn  uncertainty about the future into inspiration, creativity and resilience.
