Target Audience: all academic staff eligible to apply for EPSRC funding (focused on Manufacturing but open to all academics)

This briefing session will provide an opportunity to understand the Manufacturing the Future Theme at EPSRC.  With reference to the delivery plans, outcomes frameworks and manufacturing priorities.  In addition, the efforts to ensure the UK has a balanced capability will be discussed and also the importance placed on community-led (‘bottom-up’)  research will be covered.  Finally, the session will cover RCUK recently launched action plan for improving the equality and diversity-within the research councils, peer review processes and promoting good practice through the research community.

As a result of the session, participants will have an opportunity to get to know EPSRC Portfolio Managers and develop an understanding of the drivers and context in which the EPSRC make funding decisions.

In particular you will learn more about:

  • EPSRC delivery plan
  • EPSRC Outcome Framework and manufacturing priorities
  • Communicate balancing capability and full rationales
  • Community-led (bottom-up) research
  • RCUK equality and diversity

Following the presentation by Katie Daniels, EPSRC Theme Lead, Manufacturing the Future and a Q&A session there will be networking opportunities and lunch.  The buffet lunch will be served at 12.00

Cancellation Policy

When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* to your department if you cancel within 5** working days or you do not attend, and a £25 charge for cancellations/ non-attendance between 6 and 10 working days. There will be no charge for cancellation made 10 or more working days before the event. Notifications should be made to OSDU@strath.ac.uk

A department is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary pre-requisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you must attend ALL parts of the course. If you fail to attend any part you will be charged as outlined above.

*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance of course of 1 days duration or less. For some courses there may be a higher cancellation charge and if this is the case you will be advised of this at the time of booking.
