Target Audience: Staff

This 2 day comprehensive training course is ideal for anyone wishing to refresh their qualification in first aid. It covers a wider range of subjects than covered by the Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification. It provides delegates with the skills and knowledge required to deal with first aid situations in higher risk workplaces. The course is assessed through a multiple choice question paper, practical observations and verbal questions. Successful completion results in a First Aid at Work certificate valid for 3 years.

  • Responsibilities of the first aider
  • Primary survey
  • Recovery position
  • Resuscitation
  • Choking
  • Shock
  • Bleeding and minor injuries
  • Secondary survey
  • Major injuries
  • Anaphylactic shock

The course also covers; major illnesses, incident management, head injuries, burns, unconscious casualty management, bones, joints and muscle injuries, poisons, eye injuries and defibrillation.

Prerequisites

You must have attended the initial First Aid at Work training which can be booked here - https://bookings.strath.ac.uk/Home/Course/2612 You must complete the re-qualification course before your First Aid at Work certificate expires. You will be asked to present your certificate to the assessor at the beginning of the course.
