Target Audience: Any member of staff who will ever convene a meeting or provide administrative support for a meeting

This short session will introduce colleagues to the duties of a committee convener and committee manager and provide guidance on how to undertake those duties efficiently. At the session, participants will be encouraged to share and review examples of behaviours, skills and documentation aimed at ensuring that committees work effectively. 

The session will draw on a project undertaken in the Faculty of Science “Improve the quality of meetings”.

On completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • determine whether an item of business should be dealt with at a meeting
  • create documentation which supports the purpose of any meeting, whether it is a forum for communication or a decision-making body
  • create documentation which supports the purpose of any meeting, whether it is a forum for communication or a decision-making body
  • deliver effective follow-up after every meeting
