Target Audience: Staff who are involved in teaching within the university
A 'flipped classroom' format involves students working at home on the content that is normally delivered during a traditional 'lecture'. In-class time is then spent working with students in a more social context on higher level cognitive activities such as applying, analysing, evaluating and creating. This session allows staff an opportunity to explore ways in which they might 'flip their classroom' and reflect on how this might benefit their students. Case studies from the faculties will present so that experiences can be shared and ongoing support networks established.
Outcome / Objectives:
- Understand key elements of the flipped classroom
- Explore how content might be provided prior to class; and
- Explore how successful in-class activities can be.
