Target Audience: University staff and students

The University seeks to better support Veterans and members of the Armed Forces Community working and studying on campus, and also to support them in gaining access to Higher Education.

The session will be opened by a presentation from the University Secretary and Compliance Officer, outlining Strathclyde's ambition to sign the Armed Forces Covenant. This seminar will include speakers from Strathclyde as well as external advocacy groups, and will discuss the proposal to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and establish the role of a 'Veterans and Armed Forces Community Champion' within the University.

Key Outputs:

  • Start a dialogue between Strathclyde staff and students, sector and military representatives, and those with personal experience to understand the opportunities that further and higher education can deliver for service leavers and their families
  • Enable the University to begin developing a practical action plan to support the Armed Forces Covenant

We welcome you to join in this active discussion as a professional, or an individual with personal interest, to contribute to identifying practical next steps. This seminar will also provide you with the opportunity to network and collaborate.

An optional lunch will be provided from 12:30pm until 1pm. If you would like to attend this, please note your attendance by stating "I will attend the lunch" under the "dietary requirements" section of the booking form, along with any additional dietary requirements you may have.
