Is this course right for me?

Target Audience: Everyone at the University

The average person has more than 100 online accounts and that number is expected to double, at least, in the next few years.

Using secure and unique passwords for all your online accounts is an essential part of keeping yourself safe online, but remembering a large number of complicated passwords is a challenge for many people. This is where password managers come in.

The University is recommending LastPass, a world-class password manager. This webinar introduces LastPass and will cover the following topics:

  • Why you need a password manager
  • Getting up and running with LastPass
  • The Vault – managing your passwords in LastPass
  • Passwords for new online accounts
  • Updating passwords for your existing online accounts
  • Using LastPass with accounts that require your DS username
  • Protecting your LastPass passwords with Multifactor Authentication
  • Learning to trust a password manager
  • Tips on using LastPass

We’ll be using Mentimeter to run a Q&A. You’ll be able to submit questions as the webinar progresses and we’ll discuss these at the end of the webinar.

 

How can I watch the event?

This event will be livestreamed on the PMO Online YouTube channel. 

Firstly, please register using the 'Book Course' button.  To join the webinar on the day, select the Visit Webinar link.

You can join at any time after the livestream goes online 30 minutes prior to the event start.

 

What equipment will I need?

You'll need either a PC, Mac, tablet or smartphone that can run a web browser (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer) or the dedicated YouTube app. To hear the commentary you'll need either headphones, earphones or your device's speakers. You do not need a microphone.

 

How can I ask a question?

There will be a short Q&A at the end of the webinar.

You can submit questions during the webinar using the Mentimeter online tool.  You will receive instructions on how to do this during the event (it's easy).  Your questions will be answered at scheduled points during the webinar.

 

Will I appear on camera?

No, you watch the livestream like any other video.

 

Is a Google or YouTube account required to view the livestream?

No, there's no need to log in to Google / YouTube.

 

What happens if I can’t watch the livestream?

After the event a recording of the livestream will be available on the PMO Online YouTube channel (i.e. the link shown above).
