Target Audience: Postgraduate Research Students

Open to PhD students and Early Career Research staff, this course brings together researchers from a wide variety of backgrounds to work together and share ideas throughout the training programme.
The class is delivered over a three full day period (16-18 June) taking place off campus on a residential basis. Using expertise from both within the University and externally, the class is delivered using a range of teaching methods and techniques, including: presentations from academic staff outlining the underlying relevant theories; interactive workshops and presentations on knowledge exchange and innovation in practice; and presentations by participants, with experts providing feedback.

On completion of this course.

participants will be expected to have:

  • Greater awareness of the research, knowledge exchange, and innovation landscape emerging within Higher Education, recognising its cultural, societal, and economical benefits
  • Improved understanding on how impact can be developed through, and created from, research and innovation
  • Greater awareness of the various types of knowledge exchange
  • Ability to develop a knowledge exchange/engagement plan, outlining how knowledge and/or innovations will be disseminated into the external environment
  • Improved communication skills, particularly with the external environment
  • Improved project planning and organisation
  • Personal development.

PG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development

All postgraduate research students are eligible to access the Researcher Development Programme workshops. This workshop can contribute towards the PG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development (PG Cert RPD).

You can find credit and class information in the Researcher Development Programme Handbook and in NEPTUNE (Engineering, HaSS) or SPIDER (Science).

Please check with your department or Supervisor to confirm if you are enrolled on the PG Cert RPD and how many credits you are expected to achieve if you are unsure.
