This course equips staff with the basic knowledge and understanding of lasers and their hazards. To enable them to adopt good practice in the safe use of lasers.
Participation on this course is recommended in order for departments to comply with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and to adopt good practice in the Safe Use of Lasers as detailed in guidance from the European Normalised British Standard (BS EN 60825) in line with the Control of Artificial Optical Radiation at Work Regulations 2010.

- Practical laser safety
- University policy and procesures
- Laser safety media video
- Quiz assessment and course evaluation

There are 9 modules to be completed and a final (10th) module containing a small assessment quiz and a course evaluation.The format for each of the modules, is broadly similar and consists of the following:

* Media presentations or video clips.
* Other useful documents and websites.
