Is this course right for me?

Target Audience: Academic, Teaching, Research and KE Staff

As we continue to respond to the Covid-19 crisis, we must turn now to thinking about how learning and teaching can be delivered and supported in the upcoming semester, academic year, and beyond. While the response to the emergency at lockdown from Strathclyde has been truly outstanding, we must now consider how we can design evidence-based blended and online programmes with the resilience to support students throughout these uncertain times. 

 This course is designed to support Programme/Course Leaders in leading their teams to transform academic classes to well-designed blended and online learning formats that are designed to best support student learning, and to be resilient as we continue to deal with this crisis and indeed to look ahead to Strathclyde Strategy 2025. 

We will use a ‘Constructive Alignment’ and ‘Backwards Design’ approach, to support you in guiding your teams toward student-centred, objective-driven, inclusive approaches to curriculum design. These models are at the heart of a number of Strathclyde policies and processes, including the Course Approval Process (C-CAP), Assessment and Feedback Policy etc. We will work with you to support your course teams toward designing a complete Storyboard for each class in your programme. The model we use allows mapping of learning objectives, assessment and feedback opportunities, and learning activities within the storyboard as well as resource curation, allowing the design to take place within a single online space. Collaboration and feedback among programme teams is encouraged and supported through the model. 

 The programme consists of self-paced online learning class, followed 2 weeks later by a 2h zoom session to consolidate learning and provide bespoke support in leading your programme teams. We will also provide further ongoing bespoke support for you in working with your programme team as required.

Cancellation Policy

When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* to your department if you cancel within 5** working days or you do not attend, and a £25 charge for cancellations/ non-attendance between 6 and 10 working days. There will be no charge for cancellation made 10 or more working days before the event. Notifications should be made to OSDU@strath.ac.uk

A department is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary pre-requisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you must attend ALL parts of the course. If you fail to attend any part you will be charged as outlined above.

*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance of course of 1 days duration or less. For some courses there may be a higher cancellation charge and if this is the case you will be advised of this at the time of booking.

**Any bookings made within 10 days of the event will incur the charges as specified.
