 Course Content

This course asks you to think about the 'bigger picture' into which your assessment and feedback practice fits. Research from a wide range of institutions undertaking Transforming the Student Experience Through Assessment (TESTA) exercises indicates that many of the issues students and staff experience around assessment and feedback stem from disconnections and inconsistencies.

The section focuses on two areas where the assessment practice on an individual module is bound up with larger programme, department, or even University-wide, process and concerns. This will involve considering how your assessments are quality assured and how programme-wide approaches to assessment and feedback can enhance the experience of students.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify, define and apply all the key processes and procedures involved in the Quality assurance of assessment in your department/school
  • Critically evaluate those QA processes, considering their impact on both the teaching you deliver and the learning undertaken by students in your department/school
  • Critically evaluate the TESTA process and evaluate the benefits and challenges of taking a programme level view on assessment and feedback
  • Discuss the key issues in assessment and feedback that become visible and possible to address through taking a programme level view of assessment and feedback (assessment bunching, alignment, inauthentic assessment, misaligned feedback cycles, inconsistencies etc.)

Participants who register need to be enrolled on the following MyPlace class,
