Target Audience: Open to - All Staff

This course covers the role of assertiveness in the workplace and how it can be a benefit. We also look at the differences between assertive, aggressive and passive behaviours and practical exercises allow you to identify your current level of assertiveness and areas for improvement.

 

There are a mix of contextual exercises to help reinforce learning prior to the introduction and discussion of practical assertive communication techniques than could be applied to working moving forwards. The final task in the session is a personal action plan in relation to adopting more assertive behaviours in the workplace.  There is a mix of group work and individual exercises throughout the session.

  • To identify the characteristics of assertive, aggressive and passive behaviours
  • To prepare an individual action plan in relation to adopting more assertive behaviours in the workplace
  • To gain an understanding of practical assertive communication techniques
  • To develop assertive behaviours and skills moving forwards
