    Leadership for Strategic Outcomes 2025 - 2026

    The purpose of the programme is to equip team leaders to manage more complex and multi skilled teams. It has been designed to support the standards as described in both the Strathclyde Job Level Descriptors and Strathclyde Leadership Competencies and Behaviours Frameworks.

Target Audience: Mid to Senior level Managers and Leaders

** All prospective participants should attend the introductory session prior to joining the programme.  The information session is bookable via the on-line booking system.

Programme Structure

The Strathclyde Leadership Development Programme - Leading for Strategic Outcomes, takes a facilitated approach to learning, consisting of taught sessions and 3 on-line modules.  Reflection and self-awareness will be promoted by using a variety of leadership models and tools.  The programme is also underpinned by the Strathclyde Framework for Effective Academic and Professional Leadership Behaviours.

Participants may be asked to complete pre module work, background theory and other reading which will be held on our MyPlace page.

Qualification

Participants will have the option of completing the ILM level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management. (The ILM qualification is chargeable to either the participant or the department)                                                                                                                           

The programme comprises of 6 face to face modules and 3 on-line sessions, and will be run from October 2025 to April 2026

Participants will have the option of completing the ILM level 5 Award in Leadership and Management. (The ILM qualification is chargeable to either the participant or the department)

There will be Equality and Diversity modules that must be completed prior to attending some of the taught sessions.  Links to the sessions will be posted on the MyPlace page. 

Internal Award

To qualify for the internal programme award, participants must attend at least 80% of the taught modules, complete the on-line modules, and submit a summative written assignment of 1500 words.  The assignment is work based, and designed to show how learning is being transferred back into the workplace.  This assignment should only be completed by those not working towards the ILM option.

Institute of Leadership and Management Qualification  

Participants can work towards the ILM Certificate in Leadership and Management at Level 5.  As with the internal programme, participants must attend 80% of the taught workshops, and complete the on-line modules.

Everyone undertaking the ILM qualification will be required to attend a compulsory ILM tutorial meeting.

Prerequisites

**Prior to joining the Leading for Strategic Outcomes programme, you must take part in the 1 hour information session. This session can be booked via the online booking system.

Cancellation Policy

When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* to your department if you cancel within 5** working days or you do not attend, and a £25 charge for cancellations/ non-attendance between 6 and 10 working days. There will be no charge for cancellation made 10 or more working days before the event. Notifications should be made to OSDU@strath.ac.uk

A department is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary pre-requisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you must attend ALL parts of the course. If you fail to attend any part you will be charged as outlined above.

*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance of course of 1 days duration or less. For some courses there may be a higher cancellation charge and if this is the case you will be advised of this at the time of booking.

**Any bookings made within 10 days of the event will incur the charges as specified.
