Join Laragh Quinney, Maps Reading Room Manager for an interactive session to introduce the National Library of Scotland's map collections and online map resources. Learn about the 2 million plus maps in the Library's collection, from town plans to star charts and from early printed atlases to born-digital mapping.
In the past two decades the Library has digitised over 200,000 historic maps, and made these available to view online (see link below). This workshop will demonstrate how to:
- Search for relevant maps
- Annotate or measure distance or area
- View background information on different types of mapping
- Compare different historic map layers
- Print or re-use map images
