Target Audience: Research staff, early-career academic staff and anyone else planning to apply for the RSE Small Research Grants scheme

RSE Small Research Grants is a scheme by the Royal Society of Edinburgh supporting high-quality research through small funding pots of £500 to £5,000 over a 12-month period. The programme is targeted at researchers and academics at Scottish institutions, including those on fixed-term contracts.

This session is for those staff members at Strathclyde who are in the process of applying for an RSE Small Research Grant.

Participants will have the opportunity to receive feedback and tips on their funding proposal through a peer review process during the session.

There will also be time to ask questions regarding the funding programme, as colleagues from RKES will be present to provide their advice.

This is an excellent opportunity for early-career staff members to build up their research portfolio as well as develop their skills around proposal writing.

Course Outcome/Objectives;

At the end of the session, participants will have

  • Gained peer feedback to improve their draft proposal;
  • Received support with any questions around the RSE Small Research Grants scheme;
  • Improved their grant development skills through review from others as well as through providing feedback themselves;
  • Gotten to know grant application processes better in a practical context.
