Target Audience: Anyone across the university who is interested in developing the mindset and skills to become an entrepreneur.

Interested in becoming an entrepreneur?  Thinking about developing a micro business or looking for an opportunity?  This session will look at how to think like an entrepreneur and  cover the key skills such as market testing and developing your business in the first year, writing a business plan and strategy, finding and applying for funding and launching your marketing strategy. 

This course is aimed at beginners who are interested in considering an entrepreneurial enterprise of any size.  You may or may not have an idea yet or you might have a fully developed business idea, the aim is to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and the key skills needed to find and maximise the potential of the opportunity.  Market testing, launching, finding funding, marketing and  ongoing business development are all a key part of the skillset and these will be explored with discussion of  common pitfalls and success stories.   Fun, enthusiastic and empowering, this session is delivered by an experienced academic and entrepreneur and so is orientated to the university environment.   Contribution to the session by participants is optional, so those perhaps  just considering entrepreneurial activities for the first time are very welcome.  Local, national and international support available to experienced entrepreneurs as well as emerging entrepreneurs will also be comprehensively outlined.

Cancellation Policy

When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* to your department if you cancel within 5** working days or you do not attend, and a £25 charge for cancellations/ non-attendance between 6 and 10 working days. There will be no charge for cancellation made 10 or more working days before the event. Notifications should be made to OSDU@strath.ac.uk

A department is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary pre-requisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you must attend ALL parts of the course. If you fail to attend any part you will be charged as outlined above.

*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance of course of 1 days duration or less. For some courses there may be a higher cancellation charge and if this is the case you will be advised of this at the time of booking.

**Any bookings made within 10 days of the event will incur the charges as specified.
