Target Audience: Anyone across the university who is interested in developing their business.

Interested in developing your business?  This session will follow on from the Beginner Level of Key Entrepreneurial Skills and look in more depth at know-how over Digital Marketing and conventional business funding sources (e.g. Scottish Enterprise Growth Investments) and alternative financing routes such as crowdfunding and crowd investing. It will include: Analytics; Amazon shopfronts and trading (Helium 10); Building Audiences and Brand; Customer loyalty; Digital Marketing to international markets; Email Marketing; Facebook advertisingSearch Engine Optimisation; Setting up an Instagram and/or Etsy shop; Your Google Business Profile and Digitising analogue marketing techniques (e.g. newsletters).  Case studies will be discussed. 

This course is aimed at aspiring or emerging entrepreneurs who are interested in developing an entrepreneurial enterprise of any size. This session will look at digital marketing and conventional business funding sources (e.g. Scottish Enterprise Growth Investments) and alternative financing routes such as crowdfunding and crowd investing. It will also cover key skills such as audience building and brand building as well as trading online. 

Fun, enthusiastic and empowering, this session is delivered by experienced academic and entrepreneur Dr Kate Smith and so is orientated to the university environment.   Contribution to the session by participants is optional, so those perhaps just considering entrepreneurial activities for the first time are very welcome.  Local, national and international support available to experienced entrepreneurs as well as emerging entrepreneurs will also be comprehensively outlined.

Cancellation Policy

When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* to your department if you cancel within 5** working days or you do not attend, and a £25 charge for cancellations/ non-attendance between 6 and 10 working days. There will be no charge for cancellation made 10 or more working days before the event. Notifications should be made to OSDU@strath.ac.uk

A department is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary pre-requisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you must attend ALL parts of the course. If you fail to attend any part you will be charged as outlined above.

*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance of course of 1 days duration or less. For some courses there may be a higher cancellation charge and if this is the case you will be advised of this at the time of booking.

**Any bookings made within 10 days of the event will incur the charges as specified.
