Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: Academic professional staff who are eligible for academic promotion and planning to apply in the next 12 months
Session 1 - Promotion Procedures, ADR, PURE and Your CV
In this face to face event, participants will learn more about the academic promotion process from a practical perspective through talks and a panel discussion with speakers involved in promotion (across HR, RKES and Faculties). There will also be opportunity for participants for peer discussion to share thoughts and ideas about their own plans for a promotion application.
This is part of a mini event series with a second session on academic promotion taking place on 7th July – those interested in applying for promotion are invited to attend both sessions, as they will be complementary in content. More information on Session 2 can be found here.
In Session 1, the focus will be on understanding how to approach preparations for applying for promotion – from the procedures and putting together documents, such as the PURE report, to assessing your own readiness for promotion. Questions that this event will be looking at include: What does the promotion process look like in practice? What do you need to be aware of regarding your PURE report for promotion? How do you translate the promotion criteria into your own context? How do you know when you are ready for promotion? and more…
The event will be focused on promotion in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, but will be open for anyone with an interest to participate.
Event speakers will include:
- Janette Birnie (HR Adviser, HR)
- Christine Gallacher (Systems Administrator, RKES)
- Prof Campbell Booth (Vice-Dean Research, Engineering)
