Target Audience: Staff

ESD, Me and a Cup of Tea is an informal lunchtime monthly meet up where Strathclyde staff share their experience of embedding Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into their teaching and curriculum. Each month we'll hear from a different member of staff who will discuss their approach to ESD over a cuppa. Most sessions will last between 30-45 minutes. There's no formal presentation and discussion is encouraged.

This month we’ll hear from Marcus Perry. In 2021, Marcus set up a new Vertically Integrated Projects for Sustainable Development (VIP4SD) project called Building Pandemic Resilience across Civil & Environmental Engineering and EEE. The projects are being run in collaboration with the University of Purdue in the US (who have their own student cohorts).

In this session, Marcus will talk about lessons he’s learnt from:

  • Setting up and funding a VIP from scratch - e.g. timeframes, sources of funding
  • Hosting a VIP in a department which hasn't run one before (or at least hasn't run one for quite some time)
  • Working with other Universities internationally
  • Working across departments

Marcus will cover what's worked well and the mistakes  made so far (so that you don't have to make the same ones!)

Pop the kettle on an join us online on 13 July at 12pm!
