Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: Research Staff, including Impact Champions
This is a blended online course running over 5 weeks. It combines asynchronous online learning with live introduction, conclusion and drop-in sessions.
The course will introduce you to the principles, concepts, tools and techniques of innovation management and responsible research and innovation. This will bring together researchers from a wide variety of backgrounds to work together and share ideas. The course starts by looking at how innovation happens and where research fits into the innovation process.
Key Dates
Now - register to be part of the cohort. You will then be sent details, including how to access the course on myplace and details about the live sessions.
Course start – The course will start in the week beginning the 31st October 2022. Make sure that you have access to the course myplace page at that point and ideally start familiarising yourself with the available materials.
2nd November 2022: Session 1 (Introduction session) - welcome and introduction to the course structure, expectations on learners and course topics
Every Tuesday afternoon in November: Sessions 2-5 (weekly drop-ins) – an opportunity for you to ask questions and discuss aspects of the course you found interesting or challenging
7th December 2022: Session 6 (Conclusion session) – discussion of take-aways from the course and potential next steps
Outcomes/ Objectives;
Participating in this course will help you to:
- Understand the role of Responsible Innovation in the context of their own work and other disciplines.
- Evaluate processes and frameworks for Responsible Research & Innovation.
- Create a plan to embed Responsible Innovation in their own practice, including desirable characteristics of Responsible Innovation, such as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
- Discuss the drivers for Responsible Innovation and its role in the research and innovation landscape as well as the impact on their own careers.
- Understand the innovation ecosystem and where their research fits into the innovation process.
- Identify potential users of their research/innovation, including community groups, and develop an engagement plan.
- Enhanced understanding of the wider research and innovation context.
- Broaden mindset on the scope of impact of research on wider society.
Cancellation Policy
When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* to your department if you cancel within 5** working days or you do not attend, and a £25 charge for cancellations/ non-attendance between 6 and 10 working days. There will be no charge for cancellation made 10 or more working days before the event. Notifications should be made to OSDU@strath.ac.uk
A department is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary pre-requisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you must attend ALL parts of the course. If you fail to attend any part you will be charged as outlined above.
*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance of course of 1 days duration or less. For some courses there may be a higher cancellation charge and if this is the case you will be advised of this at the time of booking.
**Any bookings made within 10 days of the event will incur the charges as specified.
