Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: All Research Staff members (Assistants, Associates, Fellows, etc.)
This is a live in-person event.
Research integrity and culture can often seem like very abstract concepts for us, yet they are actually essential aspects influencing how we do research and how successful our research may be. For research staff members in particular, there are various aspects to navigate – from power dynamics within your research environment and pressures due to fixed-term contracts to potential challenges as you take on more research leadership roles or start to supervise (informally or formally) students and junior colleagues.
This workshop will thus explore practical examples of good and bad culture & integrity, looking at case studies and discussion topics specifically relevant for research staff members. It will support you to engage with complex situations around integrity and culture which you can reflect on, discuss take-aways from and apply to your own contexts.
Course Outcomes/ Objectives;
Participating in this event will enable you to
- understand what good and bad integrity & culture may look like in practice for research staff-specific contexts;
- practice how to engage with such complex situations that may arise as part of your work; and
- gain input from peers as well as RKES / OSDU colleagues with expertise on integrity & culture on questions or issues you may have.
Please note that this event is part of Strathclyde's Research Integrity & Culture Week 2023. You can see the full programme for Research Integrity & Culture Week 2023 here.
