    Side Hustles can be a passion project - opportunity to upskill, to work with new people, a chance to earn some extra income or for developing a social enterprise idea. This session looks at some side hustle ideas and also sets out the playbook for running a side hustle successfully.

Target Audience: Open to all (Teaching, Research, KE and Entrepreneurship, Professional Services)

This course will take place online.

The aim of the workshop is to empower individuals to initiate and develop some side hustle ideas and still achieve a good work-life balance.  Examples of successful side hustles large and small will be examined as case studies to identify the key steps in running a side hustle. A range of different types covering sports, literary,  STEM, health and well-being, events-based, pop up shops, e-commerce and of course, digital.

Course Outcomes/Objectives;

  • We will discuss what is a side hustle and how to set one up.
  • How much time to devote and how to dovetail it into other parts of your life.
  • Is an app needed and how do you get one?
  • Successful case studies – how did they do it and what lessons can be learned.
  • How to find customers and keep those recurring revenues rolling in.
  • Side Hustle clinic – advise given on new ideas or existing businesses.

  • There will be a break throughout the session

Cancellation Policy 

When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* charge to your Department / School if you do not attend your place on the course. There will be no charge as long as you cancel your booked place before the event or notify our staff at osdu@strath.ac.uk that you can no longer attend.

A Department / School is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary prerequisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you are expected to attend ALL parts of the course.

*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance of a course of 1-day duration or less. For some courses, there may be a higher cancellation charge and if this is the case you will be advised of this at the time of booking.
