This course will take place online.

Finding and getting customers is the lifeblood of any small business.  How can target markets be defined and approached for low or no-cost?  Customer Acquisition Costs (CAC) are important considerations for any business so knowing how to get customers in without breaking the bank and spending all the profit is a key business skill. What options are available for free funding and support?

The aim of the workshop is to empower individuals to learn life hacks for finding and getting the best customers and also accessing free funding and support for new ideas, products, and businesses. What is a ‘go to market’ strategy and what difference does a good sales strategy make? Examples of free and successful customer service tools will be highlighted. Social media marketing tips will also be given.

Course Outcomes/Objectives;

  • we will discuss how to identify and source the customers you want
  • how to approach target markets in innovative and effective ways
  • what about personal branding an dother social media marketing tips
  • successful case studies - how did they do it and what lessons can be learned
  • how to write and operationalise a 'go to market' strategy and a sales strategy in one day
  • outline of some of the best business support grants and free funding available

Cancellation Policy 

When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* charge to your Department / School if you do not attend your place on the course. There will be no charge as long as you cancel your booked place before the event or notify our staff at osdu@strath.ac.uk that you can no longer attend.

A Department / School is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary prerequisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you are expected to attend ALL parts of the course.

*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance of a course of 1-day duration or less. For some courses, there may be a higher cancellation charge and if this is the case you will be advised of this at the time of booking.
