Open Research is the culture and practice of making all stages of the research lifecycle more open, transparent, collaborative, inclusive and efficient. But what does that mean in practice?

Discussing the question ‘What is open research and how does it benefit research, researchers and research cultures?’, researchers and practitioners from the University of Strathclyde and Heriot Watt University will share insights from their work.

A series of short talks and discussion opportunities will provide an engaging and thought-provoking session that will appeal to anyone interested in learning more about open research practices, including researchers, PGR students, KE and teaching staff as well as research-enabling staff such as professional services and technicians.

Speakers at this event will include:

  • Dr Fergus Guppy, Heriot Watt University – discussing pre-registering outputs and his work leading Heriot Watt’s Open Research Task and Finish Group.
  • Carly Elliott, University of Strathclyde – discussing open engagement activities.
  • Dr Kieren Egan, University of Strathclyde – discussing NHS patient and public involvement and engagement and his experience with the citizen science Living Lab project.

This event is being delivered in collaboration with Heriot Watt University. Both Strathclyde staff and Heriot Watt staff are invited to attend. To support this, the event will be hybrid – for online attendance, please register on the Eventbrite page.
