Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: Staff
The aim of this session is to enable content creators to write meaningful text alternatives for digital images, making content more accessible for everyone.
Providing alt text (also known as alternative text) enables blind or visually impaired individuals to engage with visual content in a meaningful way, while also making content more searchable. Similarly, image descriptions offer detailed explanations of visuals, supporting comprehension among diverse audiences.
Through practical examples and exercises, participants will gain the skills to write effective alt text and image descriptions, ensuring that their digital content is inclusive and accessible to all users.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- determine whether text alternatives for images are required, based on their purpose and context
- write equivalent, appropriate text alternatives for informative and complex images
- apply appropriate techniques to assign text alternatives to images or mark them as decorative
