Target Audience: Staff

The aim of this session is to enable content creators to produce accessible digital presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Whether you are creating presentation materials for lectures, team meetings, project updates, or training sessions, it’s essential to prioritise accessibility so that everyone can access and engage with your content effectively.

Content structure, language, use of images and styling can all present barriers to access. Ensuring that the presentation slides we create are accessible promotes equal access to information and digital inclusion for everyone.

Through practical examples and exercises, participants will learn techniques to effectively structure and style slide content to cater to the needs of diverse audiences.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • organise slide content in a meaningful and consistent way to provide a logical reading order for assistive technologies
  • provide equivalent, appropriate text alternatives for images
  • use colour and contrast appropriately to make content easier to see for diverse audiences
  • use templates and slide layouts to consistently implement accessibility features
  • use the Microsoft Office Accessibility Checker to test for accessibility issues
