Target Audience: Staff

The aim of this session is to enable Myplace class authors to apply key accessibility principles when creating learning content in Myplace.

This means designing content that offers choice and flexibility for how learners access content, and the ability to participate in a way that meets their needs. Anticipating and addressing barriers in the content we create provides an opportunity to make content more accessible for everyone.

Through practical examples and exercises, participants will gain the skills to produce content within Myplace that follows accessibility best practices, ensuring that their digital content is inclusive and accessible to all users.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • organise class content in a meaningful and consistent way using headings, paragraphs, lists and other structural elements
  • use language and visual presentation of text content to enhance readability
  • use colour and contrast appropriately to make content easier to see for diverse audiences
  • provide appropriate alternatives for media such as images and video
  • test class content for accessibility using manual and automated techniques
