Target Audience: Open to all but particularly relevant to academic and professional services colleagues who deal with applicants, programme information, marketing information.

CMA Guidelines were published in 2015 and refreshed in 2023, setting out Higher Education Institutions' obligations under consumer law. We have a contract with our applicants and students and, as such, are required to be clear, transparent and fair in our terms, our communications, our conversations and complaints.

Universities who fail to meet their obligations can be in breach of consumer law.

The workshop will explore:

- The CMA Guidelines, Consumer Law and recent updates

- Key themes and principles and the focus on transparency, clarity and fairness

- Risks and opportunities

- Practical steps priorities and Governance

- the University's phased approach to student contract
