Target Audience: The Strategy Creation and Deployment programme is designed for Leaders responsible for areas, departments, or teams in the University hoping to create or revisit their strategy.

Part 1 - Strategy Creation

This module will explore the benefits of having a tangible local strategy that is well understood. It will share tools that assist in

  • baselining the current place of the department
  • identify the vision for the group
  • examine the customer base
  • explore how to get from baseline to vision
  • prioritise, group and align improvement ideas

This module leaves us a portfolio of areas we need to be working on to achieve our vision.

Part 2 – Strategy Deployment

This module begins where module 1 left off. It examines how we use a Strategy Matrix to relate the Key Improvement Priorities in part 1 to Breakthrough goals, 1 year objectives, measures and targets and teams to carry out the work. It creates individual accountability and traces a single action back to a 5 year goal. We close this module looking at how this strategy is best communicated and  how the process of achievement is managed throughout the year with a low intrusion/high impact approach.

The course itself will give you the tools and templates to implement in your area, however the Continuous Improvement Directorate does also provide a facilitation service to run Strategy Creation and Deployment as a department specific standalone activity following this training.
