Target Audience: All Staff / Line Managers and Supervisors

We are delighted to invite you to join us for an online awareness session to celebrate Carers Week 2024.

This event is open to all colleagues; however, we extend a particular welcome to anyone with managerial or supervisory responsibilities as part of their role.

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face, and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

We want to celebrate and raise awareness of our colleagues that are carers by having a session where we will:

  • Help colleagues understand who carers are and the different people they may care for
  • Share lived experience testimonies and feedback from Strathclyde carers, highlighting the support they have benefitted from and also the challenges they face at work and at home
  • Think about ways in which carers can be supported at work, including through our Carers policy
  • Have an opportunity to chat, discuss the points covered, and answer questions that colleagues may have

As a socially progressive organisation we want to ensure that we put appropriate support in place to help our employees who face the challenges of balancing work and their caring responsibilities on a daily basis.

You may be a manager or a colleague of a carer here at Strathclyde and want to better understand the challenges they face and how you can support them at work. So why not sign up for this session and help support and raise awareness of our amazing carers.
