Target Audience: Staff

The aim of this session is to equip participants with the skills to create accessible social media content by applying best practices for text, imagery, and video. Making our social media content accessible helps us engage with a broader audience, including individuals who are disabled.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Use hashtags, emojis, and mentions in an accessible way
  • Write alt text for images on social media platforms
  • Explain key approaches to audio and video accessibility, including captions and descriptions for multimedia content

This session will focus on key principles, rather than platform-specific implementations. However, the considerations discussed can be applied regardless of platform.

These "Accessibility in brief" sessions provide a solid foundation to the techniques applied in our practical "Accessibility in practice" sessions.
