The aim of this session is to enable web developers to create websites that meet the needs of diverse users.

By designing web experiences with accessibility in mind, we can reduce barriers to participation for everyone. This session will focus on using native HTML, CSS and JavaScript best practices to create accessible webpages.

Through practical examples and exercises, participants will gain the skills to develop websites that follow accessibility best practices, ensuring that their digital content is inclusive and accessible to all users.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • use semantic HTML markup such as headings, lists, landmarks and tables to structure webpages in a meaningful and consistent way
  • ensure an appropriate reading order for assistive technologies
  • ensure controls are operable for keyboard and assistive technology users
