Target Audience: Staff

The aim of this session is to enable participants to develop the skills to test web content for digital accessibility.

We have a legal obligation to ensure that our digital content and services meet accessibility standards, under the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are the international standard for digital accessibility that can ensure a more inclusive user experience.

Testing for accessibility ensures that we are reducing barriers to participation for everyone. Through practical examples and exercises, participants will gain the skills to test web experiences using a range of manual and automated testing techniques.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • explain the requirements of common Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Success Criteria
  • select an appropriate sample of webpages for testing
  • employ appropriate manual and automated techniques to identify common accessibility issues
  • document accessibility issues in a way that supports replication and remediation
