Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: Open to anyone
Calling all students, do you struggle with Anxiety and Panic?
If the answer is yes, then you are not alone. Many students report feeling anxious during their time at university. A build-up of stress from pressures such as academic, financial, social, family and the environment as well as big life events or traumatic events can cause anxiety. Whilst most of us will feel anxious from time to time, anxiety can really ramp up and interrupt or upset our way of being, our routines and limit our activities.
Anxiety affects our minds and bodies, and the physical symptoms can be scary and uncomfortable as our nervous system fires into high alert. We can then become anxious about our anxiety and get trapped in an anxiety loop, which can affect or limit our behaviours.
The good news is that we can change our relationship with anxiety. We can learn how to respond to our bodies when the threat response is activated or misfires. Through understanding the biological and cognitive processes we can minimise the grip of the anxiety on our daily lives and learn to act despite our fears.
Join us in this 4-week open programme as we explore all things anxiety, drawing on some psychological insights and theory and sharing examples from the therapy room that help reduce the suffering associated with Anxiety.
Sessions are designed to be informal and psychoeducational; you can join at any point in the four weeks as the content repeats after week four. Participants are welcome to participate and share or equally, you can join this online resource and keep your camera off with no expectation that you must talk.
The group will run online from 1.30-2.30pm on a Friday, beginning on October 4th. If you wish to join, please see the Zoom registration link below -
