Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: This course is open for all staff at Strathclyde, from across job families.
This is a live, online event
The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is the UK’s system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions. This exercise will next run in 2029, and the outcomes will be used to inform the allocation of around £2 billion per year of public funding for universities’ research.
Please join Strathclyde’s REF team for an overview of the expectations for REF 2029, which will support staff to understand what REF is, how the exercise is approached at Strathclyde, the role you can play in REF 2029, and where you can go for support.
No prior knowledge of REF is required, and this course is appropriate for all staff involved in conducting, leading or enabling research and innovation (e.g. research, academic, KE, teaching and scholarship, technical, and profession services job families). The session will offer time for questions.
Outcomes/Objectives
After attending this session, attendees will:
- understand the value of REF for Strathclyde
- know about the 3 subprofile areas for REF, and their submission elements for REF 2029
- know what REF means for individual staff members
- have an understanding of the projected timeline for REF 2029 submission
- be introduced to the Strathclyde REF team and know how they can seek further information and support.
