Target Audience: All staff, postgraduate researchers with teaching responsibilities
Digital accessibility is essential in creating an inclusive world where everyone can fully participate in digital spaces, regardless of their abilities. By ensuring that websites, documents, and online services are accessible to the widest possible audience, we remove barriers that might otherwise exclude disabled individuals.
As part of our Disability History Month activities, aligning with this year’s theme, Disability, Livelihood, and Employment, this session focuses on the university’s role in promoting digital inclusion and how accessible practices not only meet compliance requirements but also equip students for workplace success.
Through practical examples, testimonials, and actionable strategies, participants will gain the tools to create a legacy of accessibility that enhances opportunities for all.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Explain the concept of digital inclusion and its significance in empowering students within the university and beyond.
- Identify common digital accessibility barriers in university contexts and their impact on the student experience.
- Apply key accessibility principles and actionable strategies to promote an inclusive digital environment.
