Target Audience: Open to all colleagues working in research, KE, or other roles that support Impact, including professional services, particularly suited to ECRs looking to develop policy impact through research.
Course Description;
Developing significant impact in the operation or development of policy from academic research is challenging and requires considerable and sustained investment in developing pathways to impact. This session will explore through case studies from highly impactful academic researchers how significant impact on policy at a regional, national and international level can be realised.
This session will focus on a few key examples of sustained policy impact, drawn from the work of leading academic researchers. It will explore pathways to achieving policy impact, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in this area. The aim is to help participants start developing their own strategies for generating significant policy impact from their research.
Course Outcomes/Objectives;
Participating in this event will enable you to:
- Develop an understanding of how policy impact might be realised learning from existing experiences
- Discuss and explore the key activities involved in generating this impact, and the issues and challenges experienced;
- Begin to understand how the lessons and insights from these experiences might apply in your own context.
