Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: New PGR Students
As you settle into your doctoral journey, we would like to encourage you to start planning your progress through the Postgraduate Certificate in Researcher Professional Development (PGR Cert RPD).
To get you started, we are holding an induction session on Wednesday 16th April 2025 at 10am on Zoom that you should attend to find out what the PG Cert RPD is, and how to complete it:
If you are unable to attend, or need any information as you progress through your doctoral studies, we have a dedicated SharePoint page that has all the information you need. You can contact us by email or come to a drop-in session to speak to the team about identifying your skills and training needs, planning your professional development and how to make the most of your activities.
We look forward to meeting you on 16th April and supporting you through your journey at Strathclyde.

Prerequisites
N/APG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development
The Postgraduate Certificate in Researcher Professional Development (PG Cert RPD) is the first academic award in the UK to recognise and reward the wide array of skills and experiences that postgraduate research students achieve during their PhD research.
Most students within HaSS, Engineering and Science will be automatically registered onto the PG Cert RPD alongside their PhD. If you are unsure about whether or not this is available to you, please speak to your supervisor.
PGRs in Strathclyde Business School undertake business and management focused modules instead of doing the PG Cert RPD. Your supervisor can tell you more about your obligations, or you can contact sbs-pgrsupport@strath.ac.uk for more information.
