The University is responsible for the implementation of measures to prevent work related stress. It is essential that managers are trained on their part in managing this issue. We have a duty to risk assess all hazards in the workplace that could affect both mental and physical health. Consequently, this is a required course for all Heads of Department and any person with line management responsibility.

If the course is full, please join the waiting list as we will be running more sessions throughout 2025/26

The aim of the session is to provide clear guidance on managing individuals suffering from work related stress using an approach based on the Health and Safety Executive's guidance for work related stress and our own stress management policy.

By the end of this session you will be able to understand:

  • Your responsibilities linked to stress as a Manager.
  • What stress is.
  • The main causes of stress at work.
  • How to prevent work-related stress.

This is an interactive face to face session for colleagues who manage others to look at stress in the workplace and help you understand your responsibilities as a people manager and how you can prevent work related stress.

The workshop will be led by our Occupational Health Manager and Verity Watson, Assistant Director HR. The session will last for 1.5 hours
