Target Audience: Carers Network

The aim of this session is to focus on children's needs and what that may mean for carers.

The Centre for Excellence for Children’s Care and Protection here at Strathclyde University, who have a focus on child welfare and protection, will be delivering this session.

The session will be hosted by Ruth Sillls, Protection Children Lead and Joe McGinty, Protecting Children Consultant, who will discuss the current child care landscape with a particular focus on trauma and the impact of this, the increase in mental health concerns and online harms risk for children and young people. It will also look at the particular role of kinship carers, as many carers increasingly take on the role of caring for relative's children who are in need.
