Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: PGRs in the first 12 months of their PhD
This interactive workshop will explore what a PhD is, and through this process will unpack the significance of this for how each individual approaches their doctorate. This then will allow us to map key milestones and begin to focus on the necessary core skills for successful, and timely doctoral completion, including research design and data management; alongside time-, task- & self-management. Ultimately, the focus is how to work at your best, to thrive towards becoming an effective researcher.
By the end of the workshop participants will:
- Understand what a doctorate is, and so have a sense of what is required of them, what the key milestones are and what skills they will need
- Be aware of key research design and data management planning principles, to be able to master their PhD process, develop great habits and be able to get going with building a thesis
- Know key tools for time and task management, in order to meet deadlines and ensure that they complete successfully and on time
- Have begun to explore how to balance motivation and momentum, and work at their best.
