Participants will be guided through the process of turning complex research into compelling narratives that resonate with public audiences. The workshop covers how to plan and deliver high-quality engagement activities, build confidence in public-facing roles, and understand the value of engagement for both researchers and communities. Whether you are new to engagement or looking to get new perspectives on what you can do to improve, this workshop is packed with tips, tricks and strategies for making the most of your engagement. 

By the end of the workshop you will have: 

  • Be able to turn your research into a compelling narrative for public audiences. 
  • Prepare high-quality engagement plans and activities. 
  • Recognise the benefits of external engagement and how to achieve them.

  • Feel more confident and comfortable with public engagement.

PG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development

All postgraduate research students are eligible to access the Researcher Development Programme workshops. This workshop can contribute towards the PG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development (PG Cert RPD).

You can find credit and class information in the Researcher Development Programme Handbook and in NEPTUNE (Engineering, HaSS) or SPIDER (Science).

Please check with your department or Supervisor to confirm if you are enrolled on the PG Cert RPD and how many credits you are expected to achieve if you are unsure.
