Target Audience: PGRs

The session begins with an exploration of audience needs and expectations, followed by practical exercises in storytelling, metaphor, and message framing. Participants will apply these tools to their own research, crafting vivid and persuasive communications for use in presentations, proposals, and public engagement. The workshop also covers how to build a communication strategy that supports long-term research goals. 

By the end of the workshop you will have: 

  • Learned how to speak clearly and vividly about their research and its relevance. 
  • Learned how to use storytelling and metaphor to engage diverse audiences. 
  • Applied impactful communication tools from multiple disciplines. 
  • Learn how to translateyour research to create a compelling messages.

PG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development

All postgraduate research students are eligible to access the Researcher Development Programme workshops. This workshop can contribute towards the PG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development (PG Cert RPD).

You can find credit and class information in the Researcher Development Programme Handbook and in NEPTUNE (Engineering, HaSS) or SPIDER (Science).

Please check with your department or Supervisor to confirm if you are enrolled on the PG Cert RPD and how many credits you are expected to achieve if you are unsure.
