The session will explore how to clarify and refine a research question and translate it into effective search strategies, with participants learning how to identify key concepts and keywords, construct searches, and use Library databases and other research tools to locate relevant scholarly literature. The workshop will also introduce ways of identifying and engaging with research communities of practice, helping students to situate their work within their field.

Finally, the session will introduce reference management tools and demonstrate how they can support the research process by helping to organise and store sources, support critical reading and note-taking, streamline the citation and referencing process, and ensure consistency throughout the research process. By the end of the workshop, participants will also have a better understanding of the ongoing support and resources available to them from the Library and LDS throughout their research journey at Strathclyde.

This is an in-person session and will include some practical exercises. Participants will be required to bring a suitable device to access University sites and resources.
