Target Audience: Researchers who are looking to explore funding options and professional networks available within both the UK and internationally

This workshop seeks to address researchers who are looking to explore funding options and professional networks available within both the UK and internationally. It aims to provide an introduction and overview of the funding landscape that covers a broad range of funders, examining early-career calls focussing on education, childhood/young people and social justice/social policy. Beyond providing the broader operational context and strategy of notable funders and calls, the workshop will highlight the value of career-planning and strategising when developing bid applications, whilst also providing guidance concerning best practice around the discipline of proposal writing.

Although this session is targetted at all researchers, it will be delivered at an introductory level.

For questions and enquiries, please contact RKES@strath.ac.uk.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this workshop participants will:

  • Understand the rationale of funded research from the perspective of both funders and applicants.
  • Be aware of who the key funders are for education, childhood and social policy research, as well as their key schemes/calls.
  • Understand the importance of thinking strategically when planning research grant submissions.
  • Appreciate who reviews research proposals and therefore who they should be targeted towards.

Understand the need to align projects to be consistent with the needs and strategic direction of key funders and their calls.
