This is a live in-person series of sessions.  There is no waiting list.
The Decolonising Together Pedagogy Book Club is a low-stakes community of practice grounded in evidence-informed practices. The series provides a collegial space to engage with contemporary, evidence-informed scholarship on learning and teaching, combining structured discussion with practical application. Open to anyone interested in teaching and learning in higher education, this book club will provide knowledge, discussion, and strategies useful for all disciplines.

In the Autumn 2026 semester, the Decolonising Together Pedagogy Book Club will focus on Inclusive Teaching: Strategies for Promoting Equity in the College [University] Classroom by Kelly Hogan and Viji Sathy, available at the Andersonian Library. Across three sessions, staff and students will read and discuss selected chapters from Inclusive Teaching (Hogan & Sathy), alongside complementary articles and resources exploring evidence-informed approaches to creating more inclusive learning environments. Through collaborative discussion, participants will critically examine assumptions about teaching and learning, share perspectives and experiences, and identify practical strategies that can be applied within their own educational contexts. The book club aims to foster a supportive space for dialogue, reflection, and collective learning around inclusive teaching practice.

After registering, you will receive an email with the schedule of readings and links to any other resources. Please add these to your calendar and work to complete them before each meeting. The Book Club will be more beneficial if you’ve read the materials.

Course Outcomes/Objectives;

By participating in this book club, you will be able to:

  1. Discuss key principles of inclusive teaching and learning presented in Inclusive Teaching and related readings.
  2. Critically reflect on how inclusion, equity, belonging, and learner diversity are experienced within higher education contexts.
  3. Identify practical strategies that can support more inclusive learning environments for students and staff.
  4. Learn from diverse perspectives through dialogue and collaborative discussion with colleagues and peers.
  5. Develop an action or insight for your own practice, learning, or engagement that contributes to a more inclusive educational community.

Cancellation Policy

When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* charge to your Department / School if you do not attend your place on the course. There will be no charge as long as you cancel your booked place before the event or notify our staff at osdu@strath.ac.uk that you can no longer attend.

A Department / School is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary prerequisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you are expected to attend ALL parts of the course.

*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance of a course of 1-day duration or less. For some courses, there may be a higher cancellation charge and if this is the case you will be advised of this at the time of booking.
