Target Audience: This series is open to all University of Strathclyde staff who are interested in enhancing learning and teaching through the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
Series; attendees are not required to attend every session but earn a digital badge for attended 7 of the 9 sessions (see below)

The SoTL Skills Series is a practical, supportive professional development programme designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to undertake a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) project. Whether you are new to SoTL or looking to strengthen your existing practice, the series will guide you through the process of investigating and enhancing teaching and learning in your own context.
Across nine interactive sessions, you will explore how to identify meaningful educational questions, engage with relevant literature, design robust and ethical projects, collect and analyse evidence, and share your findings with others. The programme emphasises practical application, enabling you to develop a project that is relevant to your own teaching, support, or educational leadership role.
The series also provides opportunities to connect with colleagues from across the University who share an interest in evidence-informed enhancement of learning and teaching, helping to build a supportive community of practice around SoTL.
Participants who complete the core pathway (Sessions 1–5) and attend one session from each of the advanced pathways (Session 6 or 7, and Session 8 or 9) will be awarded a Digital Badge in Scholarship of Teaching & Learning in recognition of their engagement and achievement.

Course Outcomes/Objectives
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this programme, you will be able to:
- Develop a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) project by identifying a meaningful educational question, engaging with relevant literature, and designing an appropriate and ethical approach to inquiry.
- Collect, analyse and interpret evidence to investigate and enhance learning and teaching within your own educational context.
- Communicate and apply SoTL findings to inform practice, demonstrate impact, and contribute to educational enhancement within and beyond the University.
Objectives
This programme will support you to:
- Explore the principles and purpose of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
- Develop a researchable question arising from your teaching or educational practice.
- Identify and engage with relevant educational literature.
- Select appropriate methods and sources of evidence.
- Design ethical and rigorous SoTL projects.
- Develop qualitative and/or quantitative approaches to data analysis.
- Translate findings into enhancements to practice and evidence of impact.
- Plan for dissemination through presentations, publications, networks, and other scholarly outputs.
Connect with colleagues across the University who share an interest in evidence-informed enhancement of learning and teaching.

- The session is relaxed – this means you can stretch, move around, stim etc.
- In line with current University health and safety guidance, attendees may wish to use face masks. The room will have either mechanical ventilation or passive ventilation (i.e. open windows)
- Digital copies of resources will be emailed to participants upon request

Prerequisites
You can attend as many sessions as you would like. When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* charge to your Department / School if you do not attend your place on the course. There will be no charge as long as you cancel your booked place before the event or notify our staff at osdu@strath.ac.uk that you can no longer attend.
A Department / School is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary prerequisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you are expected to attend ALL parts of the course.
*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance of a course of 1-day duration or less. For some courses, there may be a higher cancellation charge and if this is the case you will be advised of this at the time of booking.
